Ideal Location
Our Orillia House is quietly situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Stockton on the Forest, just three miles from the historic city of York.
Historic Location
Stockton on the Forest has a facinating history. It was originally a clearing in the Forest of Galtres – a forest that Henry VIII had cut down to use the wood to build a fleet of ships. Today it is a quiet country village, complete with shops, a pub & a frequent bus service to York and it makes a perfect base for exploring York & the splendid surrounding countryside.
York is steeped in history & has a wealth of attractions to visit – from Viking remains to ghost walks, from the magnificent Minster to medieval city walls gatehouses.
The contrasting scenery of the Wolds, Dales & Moors ( Heartbeat country) are all just a short drive away. So too is the Yorkshire coastline with the resorts of Whitby, Scarborough & Filey. There are race courses at Wetherby & York, a golfcourse less than a mile away and a pub (The Fox Inn) across the road.
